This one is easy. I mean, who doesn’t like a rant! Okay, many people don’t actually like a rant; I can think of my dear Nanna (dad’s mum), the sweetest of all humans, who I never saw angry in my life (and I don’t think Dad did either). And what did she die of? Cancer. It was quite a revelation to me when I started learning, 18 years ago now, about the links between particular emotional states and physical illnesses. I remember reading a piece by Emma Roberts, a London-based EFT practitioner who specialises in working with cancer patients, who said, “I have never met a cancer patient who isn’t angry”. And she meant by that, hidden anger.

And I thought of my grandmother, who put up with so much shit (for decades) from her shell-shocked husband, who was never the same after coming back from The Somme. Not a shred of anger anywhere to see.

And I thought of my brother, who died of a rare bone cancer aged 17, who expressed his anger not only through witty remarks…
